The Administration Department operates under the Town Manager's direction. This department provides administrative support to the Mayor and Town Council. This department is also responsible for record keeping, financial accounting, reporting, billing, collection, purchasing and invoicing for all municipal departments.

The Town of Ahoskie Inspection Department is committed to the protection of the life, safety, health and welfare of all of its citizens by complying with local, state, and federal laws by ensuring that the public and private buildings are constructed or remodeled in accordance with minimum codes; and, all services are provided at the highest level of efficiency and professionalism.
The Town of Ahoskie Inspection Department is responsible for the enforcement of the North Carolina State Building Codes within the Town of Ahoskie jurisdiction.
This includes the review and issuance of all permits for construction of commercial, single family, multi-family, buildings and structures.
Permits are also issued for accessory structures such as swimming pools, decks, storage buildings, garages, carports, etc.
Once approved regular inspections are made on each permit issued and a Certificate of Occupancy is issued after the completion of the project.
The department also enforces the Minimum Housing Code of the Town of Ahoskie.

Our Code Enforcement officers work to uphold standards which protect the health, safety, welfare, and property values of the town’s residents and businesses. These standards are enforced by our code enforcement officers within the Building Inspections and Zoning Department.

The Planning Department responsibilities related to "current planning" include zoning, subdivision, and site plan administration, sign permits, annexation, zoning code enforcement and general questions directed to the Town regarding planning issues.
The Planning Department is also responsible for "long-range planning" that includes comprehensive planning, maintaining and updating the land use plan, transportation planning, greenway and open space planning, historic preservation, demographics and developing proposed policies and ordinances to help direct the growth of the Town.
The Department serves as technical staff support for the Planning and Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment.
