
David Hunt serves as a member of the Ahoskie Town Council and is an active leader at both the local and national levels of municipal governance.
In 2025, Councilman Hunt was elected to the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities (NLC) during the organization’s annual City Summit held in Salt Lake City, Utah. He will serve a two-year term, contributing to the League’s federal advocacy efforts, governance priorities, and membership initiatives. Notably, Councilman Hunt serves as the only representative from North Carolina on the NLC Board of Directors
Through his service on the NLC Board, Councilman Hunt helps elevate the voice of Ahoskie and other small and rural communities on a national stage, advocating for policies and resources related to infrastructure, affordable housing, public safety, and economic growth. His role also provides the Town of Ahoskie with increased visibility, access to national partnerships, and opportunities to bring innovative solutions back to the community
At the local level, Councilman Hunt is known for his collaborative leadership style, strong engagement with residents, and commitment to ensuring that local government remains transparent, responsive, and community-focused. He works closely with fellow elected officials, Town staff, and regional partners to advance initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and improve quality of life.
